Gig files and Cubase

Can anybody tell me how can I use gig files in Cubase? Or maybe a site that explain exactly what I must do with these? Thank you!

.gig is the extension used by Tascam's Gigasampler software. You will need this as far as I am aware.

Yes, but how can I use them (gig files) in Cubase? Do you use this program?
Thank you for your answer.

Steinberg have their own software sampler - Halion - and I think this will use .gig files. If not you will need Gigasampler or Gigastudio (later version which can be used as a VSTi plugin) to read them. There are also programs that will convert software sampler files, notably Chicken Systems Translator.

I haven't used software samplers much at all, and when I have it has been Native Instruments' Kontakt (which will also handle .gig files I think). I don't actually use Cubase either, so I am in no way an authority I am afraid.

Basically, you fire up the sampler (Gigastudio/Halion/Kontakt) in VSTi mode, open the file (in this case .gig) from within the sampler and it will be ready to use... in a rather crude nutshell, anyway.

Here are some links which will hopefully be less vague :)

Thank you so much! You were very helpful. The sites that you proposed, gave me many information about that. I'll try to do it.

Thank you again!
